Tim and Erin Martinson shared an action packed and somewhat surreal weekend with us. We experienced real life flashbacks (Croquet Etiquette) and foreshadowing of events before they happened. Like we knew there would be crazy cool pictures posted on Facebook of Erin, Tim and Phil on the red carpet at the Oscars… and then it happened. Pretty weird.
Here’s the rundown on this episode.
Friday morning we had coffee at the College Inn near the University of Washington. Then we popped into REI and had lunch on the roof at World Wraps. Then we bopped over to the Space Needle and made everyone nervous on the elevator asking about recent terrorist attacks on the structure; I think that was Tim. We stared at the EMP (Experience Music Project) for a while. Then we came home and watched the next episode of Lost via DVR and had a very spirited conversation about where the story was going. Notably during the show, Erin made the correct call that the child that Kate was trying to keep out of the courtroom was in fact Claire’s son Aaron. Twisted. Gee, did we eat? I don’t remember what we did for dinner. Wait a minute, Barb made manicotti which we promptly scarfed up. Then we piled into the car and drove to Greenwood, to the Taproot Theater for a little improv action. We saw an improvised version of Romeo and Juliet called, The Greatest Love Story Ever… Made Up.
Saturday morning Tim and Erin met a friend in Seattle. Kelly came home from Western and then we all (except for Kevin) set out together on an epic adventure. No, we didn’t go drive by all the Dick’s locations in Seattle. This would have qualified as epic but we did that before coffee yesterday. We went down to check out the Church of the Apostles (COTA) in Frement. It wasn’t your everyday service. The people were cool. There was life and art. All their music is original and created by the people who play and worship there. I recommend popping in if you have the opportunity. After COTA, we posed for pictures with the Fremont Troll under the Aurora bridge. Then it was Jai Thai time; a mighty satisfying meal with good conversation and laughter. The capper that night was U23D, the most awesome concert film ever made. We saw U2 presented in stunning 3D at the Boeing IMAX theater with pristine audio that could effortlessly move between a whisper and a scream with all the thunder you could ever want. It was premium experience. (The previous sentence should be read aloud with a thick Ukrainian accent.)
Sunday, Kathy joined us and we did Papa Murphy’s and the Oscars. Whoa… I just felt a little splash of deja vu.
Tim and Erin, come see us again.
